[Webinar] 3-part webinar series: Git on IBM i
Thanks to open source technologies, IBM i systems can do more than ever! What does it mean to you? In this webinar, we’ll explore git and the surrounding open source ecosystem, and what it can do for your business.
“Git Going: Social Coding on GitHub Enterprise”
In today’s competitive world, software developers and organizations are being increasingly challenged to deliver innovative solutions, or be left behind by their competitors. Developers have defined software development as one that is a collaborative practice, in which developers from all over can contribute to code. GitHub helps developers collaborate on projects, as well as providing tooling automation to allow Developers to decrease the amount of context switching when delivering innovation. In this webinar, we’ll discuss the value proposition of GitHub, the changing notion of the software developer, and considerations around building a modern software practice, to not only attract top talent, but to also lay the groundwork for innovation to flourish!
“Git Ahead: IBM i DevOps cycle with Git”
Git is an integral piece to a complete DevOps cycle, a cycle you can easily tie together with tools aware of the intricacies of the IBM i platform. You may like the collaboration git provides on its own, and also want the social features GitHub brings, but how can all that be integrated on a platform which, to be frank, wasn’t built with agile in mind? It is possible to have the best of both worlds – an agile workflow which greatly increases productivity, and the stability that the IBM i platform brings. This session will show you things you may not have thought possible, such as taking IBM i native code from a GitHub repository, building it directly on an IBM i, and deploying the objects to an automated test environment. But it doesn’t stop there! We will examine a complete CI/CD workflow, from a feature branch all the way to a production deployment. All of this and more is possible with a tightly integrated toolset.
